Canyon of Trou Blanc

The Trou Blanc canyon is located in the heart of the Cirque de Salazie, at the foot of the Piton des Neiges. After a 15-minute drive from the Hell-Bourg bakery, you reach the Piton d'Anchaing car park, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Approach walk

The climb (30 min) takes place on a sunny track with a panoramic view of the cirque, ideal for reading the landscape. We pass in front of the last houses before descending towards the entrance of the canyon for dressing and briefing.

Entering the canyon

The start is in a narrow gorge with a 10 meter rappel before crossing the narrows.

Modification of the route since March 2024: following a collapse, entry into the White Hole itself is no longer via the aquatic part of the narrows. It is now done by a 40 meter spider's thread abseiling, directly above the White Hole. This reminder may impress the less adventurous: this canyon is no longer solely aquatic, it now includes an aerial dimension to take into account before booking.

The heart of the canyon

Trou Blanc is a succession of steps and obstacles linked together: natural slides, small abseils, pool jumps. Each slide has its name and its own technique: the Tob' Tim, the Drossage, the Washing Machine, the Chenille, the Ass-Tapping, the Particle Accelerator. We never get bored.

Part two

The canyon continues at the same pace with pool jumps of up to 8 meters (not obligatory). The finale: a zip line 20 meters high and 35 meters long, scratch in the water or soft landing depending on the level of the river. Undressing on site, 10 minutes walk back to the car park.

Technically accessible, but no longer exclusively aquatic since 2024. Absolutely a must if you like sensations and the call of the void doesn't hold you back.
