This entry into Mafate is done by the lush Salazie circus.
After 1 hour winding road and panoramic you will discover the Mafate circus by are entered, the "collar of oxen" and its breathtaking view of the whole circus.
After 45 minutes of winding descent, we arrive on the original "Plaine des Tamarins". Indeed the flat places are very rare in Mafate, the tamarins present have mostly been lying or uprooted by the winds or the cyclones but are not died.
This plain is also inhabited by many cows in pasture.
We continue the descent to the village of "The New" (the chief place), where 200 inhabitants live around 200 inhabitants. Picnic or meal in one of the local lodgings.
For the rest, of the day there are 2 options:
Option 1: Back by the same path, with a possible hook by the "Col de fork" (+1h) - 45euros/Pers
in the end Option 2: detours by the "Marla" islet, then return to the plain of the tamarins and the "collar of the Boeufs" (+3h) - 55 euros/pers.
